Message from the author: Growing up as a young black child, especially in poverty, success seemed to be defined solely by entertainment. Sports like basketball and football, or creative pursuits like music and acting, were often seen as the only viable paths to achieving greatness. However, I strongly believe that we as black people are capable of so much more. We are doctors, engineers, presidents, inventors, and innovators, and we have accomplished great things throughout history. In my book, I aim to showcase the achievements of black people in a variety of fields, and inspire young black children to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the world. It is important for our youth to know that there are many paths to success and that they have the power to make a significant impact.
